Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe z/OS Systems Manager with minimum of 7 years of experience in z/OS Administration with an overall technology experience of 10 plus years to oversee a Global engineering team responsible for maintaining the very large z/OS mainframe environment, including installing, configuring, and troubleshooting the hardware components, operating system and related software with the goal of  ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the mainframe infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Manage, mentor, and develop a team of z/OS System Programmers. 

System Management:

Oversee the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of z/OS and other mainframe software. Including extensive experience with the IBM Security Portal and Vulnerability management 

Performance Tuning:

Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance. 

Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, including software errors, hardware failures, and system crashes. 

Security:

Implement and maintain comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and system integrity. 

Capacity Planning:

Plan for future system needs and ensure adequate resources are available to meet business requirements. 

Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. 

Collaboration:

Work with other IT teams, such as application support, database administration, and network engineering. 

Continuity Of Business:

Expert level familiarity with disaster recovery solution, and specifically GDPS technology. 

Process Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

Deep understanding of z/OS operating system, including SYSPLEX implementation, SMP/E, z/OSMF, and other related tools. 

Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex system issues. 

Leadership:

Proven leadership experience, including managing, mentoring, and developing a team. 

Communication:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other teams. 

Industry Knowledge:

Familiarity with mainframe hardware and software, including UNIX Systems Services under z/OS. 

Responsibilities Overview:

The ideal candidate will manage z/OS projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutionsThis hybrid role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive impactful outcomesOversees the installation, upgrade, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the Z/OS operating systemMaintains knowledge of all Z/OS utilities and tools (HCD, SMP/E, RACF, TCP/IP, SMTP, FTP, DFDSS, DSF, SMS, Infoprint, TLS, VTAM)Maintains knowledge of SERVER pack installs and upgradesMaintains knowledge of TSO/JCL and all ISPF functionalitiesAssists Mainframe programmers when needed (log on issues, dataset issues, Job abends)Provides elevated Mainframe access to new Programmers, Contractors & Computer Operators for TSO, RACF & ZekeMaintains knowledge of Hardware configuration via (HMC, DS8910, and Luminex VTL tape subsystems)Maintains knowledge of OEM products including (OPS/MVS (alerts), Zeke job scheduler, Zara tape managementHolds a high degree of ability to resolve hardware/software issues to maintain 24x7 operationStrong capability to identify system or process deficiencies and recommend solutionsEnsures the latest release of applications are implemented in a timely manner with minimal or no disruption to IT operationsMaintains and provides continuous improvement of the processes, standards, policies, working methods, and toolsEnsures appropriate tools and processes are in place to have a development/production environment that is reliable and reproducibleEnsures tool configuration consistency across development, stage, testing, sandbox, and production environmentsEstimates work effort requirements efficiently and appropriately Participates in ongoing production support and end user supportProvides user training and documentation, updating existing and created new documents, both technical and end-userReviews and make necessary changes to the Information Systems Division Disaster Recovery Support Manual annuallyOn Call 24 x 7 rotation with the other Mainframe Analysts to provide 24 x 7 coverage

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years plus overall experience in Technology in a complex global environment, ideally a financial services industry. .Minimum of 7 years of experience in z/OS AdministrationStrong technical skills in geospatial data management and analysisProven track record of successfully managing geospatial projectsExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesProficiency in system performance monitoring and optimizationStrong communication and collaboration skillsUp-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practicesAbility to work effectively in a hybrid work modelStrong organizational and time management skillsCommitment to delivering high-quality solutionsAbility to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritiesPassion for leveraging geospatial technologies to drive business success

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
