Candidates with a genuine interest in STEM will find this role both enjoyable and educational. Interns are required to commit a minimum of 100 hours—20 hours of training and 80 hours of teaching—before May 2026. Transportation services may be available to support interns in traveling to and from work, ensuring a smooth and accessible experience. Hours per Week 8-19 hours per week. Schedule will include working weekdays after school and occasional weekends. Essential Functions + Assist staff and program supervisor with Youth Recreation Program activities + Supervision of youth 8-12 years of age during an after-school program + Prepare educational and recreational supplies prior to activities + Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of a neighborhood community center + Other duties as assigned. Requirements + This individual must be a minimum of 14 years of age and currently enrolled in a formal high school education program, or its equivalent (Grades9th-12th). + Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening, and possess (or be able to obtain) a CPR/First Aid certification. + This position requires the ability to interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner. Employee must be able to work independently with limited supervision. Superior Candidate: + The superior candidate will have 1 year experience working with elementary age youth. 19-Hour Temporary All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits. 4-Month Temporary All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment. 8-Month Seasonal In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage. 9-Month Temporary In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
