Youth CPRC Community Support Specialist

Job Title: Youth Community Support Specialist
Location: Kirksville, MO
Employment Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Are you passionate about empowering individuals to thrive in their communities? Join our team as a Community Support Specialist, where you'll play a vital role in helping children, adolescents, and adults build strong foundations for long-term wellbeing and independence.

Using evidence-based techniques and a strengths-based approach, you’ll collaborate with clients, families, and professionals to create personalized plans that foster growth, resilience, and stability.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver community-based mental health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, families, and stakeholders.

Apply evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Trauma-Informed Care, and Positive Reinforcement.

Provide behavioral interventions focused on skill-building, recovery, and resilience.

Coordinate care with physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and services.

Facilitate PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) group sessions aligned with treatment goals.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Support quality improvement initiatives through data collection and reporting.

Build and maintain strong relationships with families, educators, and other care providers.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless care coordination.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

You meet one of the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field.

Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field plus two years of relevant experience.

Four-year combination of higher education and two years of related experience.

Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support.

Four years of qualifying experience*.

*Qualifying experience includes direct service delivery to individuals with mental health, substance use, or developmental disabilities, with a focus on rehabilitation, recovery, and community integration.

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.

Reliable transportation to transport clients as needed.

Completion of required trainings to meet DMH standards.

What You Bring

Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment methods, legal requirements, and community resources.

Strong communication skills—verbal and written—with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.

Self-motivation and adaptability to meet complex client needs.

Ability to multitask and coordinate services across multiple systems.

Relationship-building skills with youth, families, and professionals.

Willingness to follow direction and work collaboratively within a team.
