Yellow Iron Mechanic
**Clean Harbors** located in **Dugway, UT** is seeking a **Yellow Iron Mechanic** to join their union team. This role is ideal for someone experienced in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, tractors, and other large machinery. The right candidate will have a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. **Schedule/Shift:** Work 4 10-hour shifts per week. Rotating monthly between working Mon-Thurs and Tues-Friday every other month. **Hours/OT:** 40 hours per week, 4 hours of commute pay every week= Total of 44 hours guaranteed per week. OT is available if you want to work the day that is off based on backlog of repairs needed at the site. Possible 10 hours of OT per week and sometimes more. **Location:** 11600 North Aptus Road Dugway, UT 84022 **Shuttle Information:** Company provided shuttle from surrounding areas: Magna, Salt Lake City, Tooele, and Grantsville. **Union Pay Rate:** We are hiring for the Level III role based on experience at $34.73, motivated employees would have the possibility to move into a Level IV role at $37.90 following 6 months of service if the qualifications of experience are met. **Why work for Clean Harbors?** + Health and Safety is our #1 priority and we live it 3-6-5; + Competitive union wages – with annual increases Aug 1 st ; + Comprehensive union health benefits coverage; + Group 401K with company matching component; + Generous paid time off, company paid training and tuition reimbursement; + Positive and safe work environments; + Opportunities for advancement. + Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times; + Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment including forklifts, backhoes, tractors, and other construction/industrial machinery; + Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; + Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life; + Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and parts usage documentation; + Collaborate with supervisors and operators to schedule maintenance and prioritize urgent repairs; + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; + Order and replace parts as necessary while managing time efficiently to meet repair deadlines; + Other duties as required. **What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?** + **5+ years of experience** as a Heavy Equipment or Yellow Iron Mechanic (preferred); + **Certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair** (preferred); + Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical components; + Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams; + Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic software/equipment; + Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship; + **Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL is a plus;** + Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in varying outdoor conditions.
