We have a great opportunity for a Yard Attendant in our Wilkes-Barre, PA location! Located at 300 Johnson Ave., Wilkes-Barre 18702

Summary

This position is responsible for the operation, staging, loading and unloading of heavy and light duty trucks and equipment. The position also consists of maintaining the appearance of the yard/branch, assisting mechanics, drivers or other staff with various labor-based tasks and completing other daily assignments that support the branch operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quickly and safely evaluate and identify the needed materials, tooling, and steps necessary to finish the needed task.Inspect parts, equipment or vehicles for cleanliness, damage and compliance with standards.  Detail and clean trucks to prepare them for shipping/delivery.Load and unload equipment and vehicles plus check for any damage.Responsible for the maintenance of the building, yard, and equipment.Monitor inventory in yard and oversee incoming/outgoing vehicles.Test drive equipment if necessary.Perform all duties in accordance with best practices for a safe work environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude.Adapting to changing work prioritiesMust be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be self-sufficient and driven.Communicate and convey information effectively.Must have a valid driver’s license.Must have a strong attendance record.Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL B) with a clean driving record preferred or willingness to obtain a Class B CDL. High school diploma or the equivalentKnowledge of utility and/or vocation vehicles and familiarity with operating systems including but not limited to, booms, buckets, diggers, cable reels, hi-rail, Dump Trucks, Roll Offs and track vehicles.

Working Conditions

Attendance – The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance 7:00 am- 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demandsMajority of work performed outside and in the shopMay be exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes

Physical Requirements

The ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42", stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8-10 hour day, and up to 50 hours per weekUse of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipmentAbility to see things in close proximity and distance whether through natural or corrected visionAbility to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day
