This position is primarily responsible for verifying the quality of the manufactured products and ensuring that all products are free of defects. It radiographs castings, sample’s part, looks for flaws, cracks, or presence of foreign materials. Ensures that all products are free of defects and in conformity with Customers’ requirements and Howmet’s quality standards by performing non-destructive testing. Performs non-destructive testing to ensure the quality of products and use X-Ray technology to detect variations and defects. + Verifies radiation intensities. + Adjusts controls of X-Ray equipment on console to take radiography. + Removes and develops film. + Changes and replenishes photographic chemistry. + Takes daily calibrations of processor, densitometer. + Maintains the necessary stock of materials for the area to maximize productivity. + Performs set up of measurement instruments. + X-Rays assigned parts according to customer’s demand. + Applies testing criteria as per existing norms and specifications. + Compiles the results of the tests and prepares reports. + Maintains defined files for scrap and any other required documentation. + Selects intensity of radiation and type of film and determines exposure distance and time considering size, mobility, and intensity of radiation sources in relation to density and mobility of object (as per established techniques) + Performs other duties as required. + Respects the values and code of ethics of the company. Respects the Environment, Health & Safety programs of the company + Capable of performing relatively complex tasks + Ability to understand quality control requirements + Demonstrates an aptitude to eventually obtain a level II certification + Capable of reading specifications and blueprints from our clients + Ability to do preparation, tests, and calibration + Respect’s product criteria based on Customer requirements Possess a technical College degree preferably in metallurgy or equivalent. Already have the level I certification or be able to pass the certification examination within the timeframe with a passing grade of 80% to remain in the job. Six months to one year of previous experience as a level I would be an asset.
