Outpatient Wound, Ostomy & Continence (WOC) RN 

Full-time 7:30a-6p (four 10-hour shifts)

No Weekend or Holiday requirement 

 

The Wound Ostomy RN Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong understanding of patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, they adapt to changing situations and personalize care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. They serve as a resource for colleagues and advocate for patients and families.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory Universitys Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.Achieves electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) system to maintain position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program Two years experience as an RN Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. BLS certification ACLS may be required in designated departments. Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred. Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
