Workers Compensation Spec

Department: UHC: Workers Compensation-LLUHC/42030

Job Summary: The Workers' Compensation Specialist works closely with all clinical departments to coordinate workers' compensation patient care, navigation, documentation, and center structure.  Provides case management and navigation supporting the patient population and providers.  Participates in implementation and maintenance systems for the Workers Compensation Center. Coordinates and performs outreach with adjusters and others in the community supporting patient access and flow.  Audits work completed for accuracy and quality. Presents results and opportunities, and implements improvements. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum three years workers' compensation experience required.

Knowledge and Skills: Good knowledge of workers' compensation regulations, guidelines, and requirements. Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT codes, and medical terminology.  Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Able to read and write legibly. Proficient use of computers, printers, fax machines, and software essential to the position, e.g., LLEAP, Outlook. Type minimum of 35 wpm. Essential Interpersonal Skills:  Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others. Can work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.  Essential Mental Abilities: Able to communicate Problem solving/reasoning, analyzing, explaining/teaching, and attention to detail.   Ability to establish goals.  Ability to develop and trend from multiple sources.  Ability to prioritize activities, multi-task and deal with interruptions.  Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines while managing others against specific goals and objectives.  Able to resolve and answer immediate issues and questions. Essential Sensory Abilities: See adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and documents necessary to the position. Ability to distinguish color.  Ability to hear in person and via telephone.
