The Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration The Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration (OWCA) in Louisiana oversees the enforcement and administration of workers’ compensation laws, aiming to support early return-to-work efforts and improve workplace safety. We do not process individual workers' compensation claims or issue benefit payments AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES: •Communicating Effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas. •Displaying Expertise: The ability to exhibit specialized skills or knowledge gained from experience or training. •Displaying Professionalism:The ability to recognize how your actions impact the perceptions of both you and your organization. •Driving Results:The ability to identify important goals and work to achieve them. Minimum Qualifications Five years of experience in worker's compensation; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus two years of experience in worker's compensation; OR A bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in worker's compensation. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: •Receive and input medical appointment requests from attorneys, employers, insurance companies, workers’ compensation judges, and claimants •Send notification letters and correspondence to all applicable parties via facsimile or email •Coordinate billing and missing medical record issues between parties and physicians •Collaborate with the assigned RN on case notifications, phone calls, and scheduling changes •Confer with physicians, attorneys, carrier, claimants, employers, and judges to obtain required documentation for scheduling medical appointments Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
