Salary: £25,500 to £26,000 per annum

The post holder will support the contract team in delivering a high-quality service by ensuring the upkeep of designated areas through the completion of both general and specific duties as directed. The normal place of work will be in Gloucestershire; however, there may be requirements to travel to other sites to provide assistance when needed. A vehicle will be provided for attending different locations. Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be able to obtain a High Level of Security Clearance.

Responsibilities will include carrying out general portering, maintenance, and cleaning duties as required by the site manager or their delegated representative. Maintenance tasks typically involve addressing minor internal issues such as unblocking drains and toilets, managing minor spillages, replacing faulty light bulbs and lamps, performing portable appliance testing, and taking care of gardening and landscape management. Additional tasks may include painting and decorating, as directed.

Porter service duties encompass setting up rooms for the business day, including arranging furniture, as well as handling mail collection and delivery services, collecting classified waste, and assisting with any other responsibilities appropriate to the post to ensure effective service provision. Cleaning duties will primarily involve providing cover for sickness or holidays. The role also includes Front of House responsibilities, such as issuing passes and keys to client staff and directing them to their required locations. The post holder will also assist with building and grounds security, supporting site security by conducting patrols, creating passes, and reporting to the Security Supervisor.

To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate previous experience as a handyperson and have experience working in a customer-facing environment. They must be capable of manual handling tasks and ideally possess experience in painting and decorating, plumbing, and carpentry. Basic knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems, as well as computer literacy, is also desirable. Strong communication skills are essential.

Candidates must either hold or be willing to apply for Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. The role requires someone who is flexible and adaptable, with a friendly and approachable demeanor and a proactive approach to work. Excellent communication and customer service skills are vital, as is the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful applicant will be someone who maintains high standards, shows attention to detail, is driven to exceed expectations, and is diligent, professional, and intuitive in their duties. They must also be prepared to undergo SIA training and First Aid certification as part of the role.
