Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $24.50 to $27.40+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
Job Summary:
The Terrain Park Groomer Level 5 Lead will assist the Terrain Park Manager and Terrain Park Grooming Supervisor in the overall supervision and delivery of the Terrain Park focusing on snow-cat operations. This individual is more focused on supervising nightly operations, training and motivation of grooming team. They will also be responsible for assisting nightly duties to the team and will help hold the team accountable to those tasks. We also assist with daily risk management of terrain park venue including the design, building, and completion of daily logs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrated skills:
Performs utility-oriented tasks- i.e. moving jibs etc.
Sets up grooming pattern with minimal turnarounds and a seamless finished product
Maintains overall grade of original park through regular snow management
Constantly counters migration of snow due to gravity, weather, and skier traffic
Capable of demonstrating a finish grade back-blade on small and narrow takeoffs
Fills ruts and re-shapes lips on takeoffs as necessary
Cuts crisp takeoff lips requiring little to no handwork
Capable of smooth tiller drop on takeoffs, leaving smooth transition from approach to lip
Corduroy angle matches angle of intended trajectory for each feature
Refreshes landings, breakovers, and decks as necessary
Maintains a visually pleasing, parallel grooming pattern throughout the entire park
Tills to within 2 feet of hard features with no contact
Leaves no chunks, wind rows, or other imperfections
Creates a finished product that is ready to ride with little to no hand work necessary
Equipment operating:
Able to remove and install most jibs and features
Capable of changing lips of most takeoffs to alter trajectory or change character
Tears down and rebuilds takeoffs as necessary
Refreshes features by re-grading landings, adding deck height, etc.
Demolishes features as necessary based on communication from supervisor
Can Move snow guns safely without damage
Maintains an orderly, efficient, and dirt-free snow farming area
Maximizes use of snow while leaving sufficient base on entire trail
Stacks, cuts, and finishes decks and landings appropriate to layout ordered
Builds takeoffs to suit
Constructs jib platforms and installs any size or shape jib with appropriate labor
Can run both winch cat and zaugg at a high level
Efficiently moves large quantities of snow
Builds features from extra small to large, with consistent and reliable results
Can be relied upon to build consistent, fun, and flaw free features of all sizes
Has a basic understanding of troubleshooting procedures for grooming machines
Highly skilled with both winch cat and zaugg
Shows clear understanding of feature spacing, flow, and likely traffic patterns
Creates new, well thought out features that cater to the appropriate demographic
Guest Service Duties:
Provide exceptional guest service by creating a fun/innovative Terrain Park
Stay current with industry trends and standards

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Adapts daily maintenance plan as weather and resources change
Implements and delegates shift work list
Guides team of laborers to switch over and install features as needed
Works with supervisor to develop timing strategies based on weather, resources, etc.
Able to lead park maintenance operators and make priority and strategy decisions daily
Capable of ensuring shift park grooming plan is complete
Ensures timely opening of parks as assigned daily
Leads crew of laborers and utility operators to accomplish logistical tasks
Implements predetermined park layout
Makes on the spot changes to feature layout based on snow levels, time, or other factors
Capable of leading build team to efficiently achieve professional results
Understands all principles associated with all types of feature construction
Scheduling and assigning work and team task management and able to hold the team accountable
Disciplinary actions- Review issues with Manager and/or Supervisor
Strong communication both with in and outside of the department
Problem solving under pressure
Strong knowledge of how the parks are built and maintained
Team safety
Training, teaching and guiding the team. Your goal should be to make every operator better.
Help with planning and join weekly planning meetings
Ensure high grooming quality for all the parks every night

Basic Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.

Must have a valid US Driver’s license
2 years’ cat operations experience required
1 year Terrain Park building experience required
Trail grooming experience required
Must have strong skiing or snowboarding skills and have knowledge of freestyle skiing/riding
Preferred Experience and Special Skills:
5 years’ cat operations experience required
3 years’ Terrain Park building experience required
Must be able to build/maintain 99% of features within parks
Zaugg experience preferred
Winch experience preferred
Trail grooming experience required
Snowmaking experience preferred
Google Sketch-up experience preferred
Welding experience preferred
Half pipe experience preferred
