**Description:**
Wildlife Attendants are responsible for assisting with the day-to-day care of the animals in our collection. Other responsibilities include cleanliness and sanitation of the workspace, bird room, and other exhibits located throughout the resort’s property. Daily tasks include feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring the well being of all animals. You must also be aware and act accordingly when any changes in environment or behavior are noticeable. The Wildlife Attendant will also, on occasion assist vets and/or technicians with animal restraint for procedures that may involve grooming, inoculations, physical check-ups, and/or transfer or relocation.
Wildlife Attendants must remain professional, well mannered, and courteous to guests and co-workers while handling multiple tasks at once with many interruptions. Good communication is key; a positive, reliable disposition is of utmost importance to support the team. Attendant should have a firm belief in the quality of care we provide, and communicate this sense of assurance to our guests and coworkers. Last, but not least, Wildlife Attendants must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy objects. They must also possess the dexterity and confidence to handle and administer medication (when necessary), groom, and handle any animal in the collection who may be scared or aggressive while maintaining a calm and composed manner emotionally and physically. Attendant must foster the ability to monitor animals for signs of distress or disease and to deal with situations accordingly. Providing comfort, and sanitation of the facility by keeping all specified areas clean and odor free is an essential part of the daily routine as well.
Attendants are required to complete all duties within allotted scheduled shift. Interaction and providing satisfaction to our guests and/or outside organizations will be displayed through weekly tours and daily koi and penguin feeding.
_Hourly position: The hourly rate range for this position is $23 to $25._

**Qualifications:**
+ Employees must be able to read, write legibly, and communicate clearly in English both in person and on the telephone.
+ Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse, and view information on a computer screen is required.
+ Employees must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry objects such as feed, weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
+ Must be able to work energetically for the entire assigned shift.
+ Wildlife attendants must physically hold and restrain birds who may struggle, scratch, or try to bite. This requires the emotional ability to remain calm and compassionate with animals who are reacting to fear and/or pain.
+ Wildlife attendants must be able to operate equipment and use supplies pertinent to carrying out their duties, including but not limited to cleaning equipment and supplies
+ Follow resort standard procedures and protocols, both current and future, as contained within the training manuals or as written or communicated by supervisor or experienced Handlers.
+ Must be able to provide full availability each week.
