Title: Wheeled Vehicle Diesel Technician (SCA) POSITION TITLE: Wheeled Vehicle Diesel Mechanic GENERAL SUMMARY: Maintain, service, inspect and repair tactical Marine Corp diesel engine vehicles to include Motor Transport and Engineer equipment., Equipment consists of ECV’s, JLTV’s, Trailers, and Forklifts over-the-road trucks, and comparable light combat vehicles, and trucks as well as other motor transport and engineer equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Performs operator, intermediate and limited major rebuild levels of maintenance which includes corrosion control. Performs other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent. Five years directly related work experience. Certificate from a recognized source with a study in electrical or automotive repair is preferred. In lieu of formal course work, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered. Completion of a basic automotive mechanic’s course, or equivalent. Completion of an automotive organizational maintenance course, or equivalent. Completion of the automotive intermediate maintenance course, or equivalent. Ability to attain and maintain MVAC 609 Technician Certification. Working knowledge of how heavy-duty machinery, engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions and other parts and systems work. Ability to troubleshoot and detect faulty items, determine cause, and determine corrective maintenance actions to repair. Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems. Ability to read Maine Corp Technical Manuals and interpret parts lists, diagrams, and electrical schematics. Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and required repairs of all components and sub-components including but not limited to the Suspension, Engine, Transmission, Transfers, Differentials, wreckers, winches and sub-components. Ability to utilize Technical Manuals, Orders, Instructions, and Modification Instructions to repair all wheeled assets. Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License and able to obtain and maintain a Tactical Operator License as necessary. Ability to comply with all established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position. U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access. Employment site is located Marine Corp Logistics Base, Albany Georgia.
