WELLSITE GEOLOGIST - QATAR

We are working with our client based in Qatar to source a WELLSITE GEOLOGIST. This is residential contract to be based in Qatar.
Wellsite Geologist to support the execution of offshore appraisal activities and the associated data acquisition scope in a North Field drilling campaign. He/she will be supporting a multi-disciplinary subsurface team within QSSC. Development organization. The Wellsite Geologist is primarily responsible for the successful execution of the onsite geological aspects of the appraisal well drilling, logging and coring being undertaken. The Wellsite Geologist is to ensure this is done in a safe manner with uncompromising focus on data completeness and quality. Experience with the operational planning and execution of coring and knowledge of middle east carbonate geology will be key. Supervision will be part of the role, and experience in this area will be advantageous. – He/she is responsible for: Geological well activities on a day-to-day basis during drilling, coring and logging operations (all HSSE aspects, on time geological reporting, well correlations and identification of formation tops, faults, casing or coring points and communicating with the client office etc). Supervision of mudlogging, coring and wireline logging activities and providing required inputs to support their relevant data acquisition scopes. Inspection of installation and calibration of all mudlogging equipment and sensors in advance and periodically during operations. Witnessing coring assembly, wireline & LWD tool make up and associated surface testing. Quality assuring the acquired data (eg Mudlogs, LWD/MWD data, cuttings descriptions and shows etc). Ensuring correct preparation and handling of drill cuttings and core samples Supervising core processing at the wellsite (measure, mark, log, process and preserve/stabilize) Generating wireline logging supervision report and keep accurate time breakdown of wireline logging activities.
Requirements: B.Sc in a relevant geoscience or engineering discipline is required with at least 5 years of direct geoscience experience. Experience with well site drilling, coring and/or logging operations. Experience in Petrel software in particular Well Correlation Package. Prior experience of working in Middle East with carbonate geology. Readiness to work at offshore drilling sites with all associated trainings. Track record in actively managing HSE, performance improvement and innovative use of technology/practices.
