Well Planning at Baker Hughes is a critical discipline that ensures every well is engineered for success before operations begin. Our Well Planners work seamlessly across organizational boundaries, collaborating with Service Delivery Coordinators, drilling engineers, and customer teams to design precise well profiles, anticipate risks, and support safe, efficient execution.
As a Well Planner, you will contribute across the entire job cycle pre‑planning, execution support, and post‑job analysis ensuring all application constraints and performance requirements are understood and addressed.
As a Well Planner, you will be responsible for:
Ensuring compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process across planning and execution stages.
Collaborating with Service Delivery Coordinators and Sales to understand client well objectives and operational constraints.
Designing well profiles and developing engineering plans, including risk‑mitigation and contingency strategies aligned with customer goals.
Supporting field incident management, including assisting with investigations to ensure robust end‑to‑end analysis.
Providing sales support through technical recommendations and product application insights.
Handling special projects and contributing to operational or engineering improvements as required.
To be successful in this role you will:
Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 5 years of experience in well planning or applications engineering within Drilling Services.
Have advanced proficiency in spoken and written English and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Have the ability to travel to rig sites, customer facilities, meetings, or training as operational needs require.
Have the flexibility to support on‑call responsibilities outside normal business hours.
Have strong interpersonal, influencing, and planning competencies, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Have proven capability in designing well programs, interpreting operational risks, and supporting high‑quality execution.
