Reporting to the Senior Trainer - LEP, will be responsible for assessing and verifying the competency of individuals in welding and fabrication processes; you will also be required to carry out inspections of tools and equipment delivered to site.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Provide training to boilermakers and welders on the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of structural and mechanical components used in the plant and the mining area. This includes chutes, hoppers, pipework, crusher frames, mill shells, crack repairs bucket maintenance and refurbishments
Conduct safety training sessions for boilermakers and welders, emphasizing hazard identification, risk assessment, lockout/tagout procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices during fabrication, cutting, welding, and structural repairs to prevent accidents and injuries.
Deliver training on the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of welded structures and mechanical assemblies, focusing on preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and structural overhauls to ensure safe, reliable operation and minimize equipment downtime.
Train boilermakers and welders on precision measurement techniques, structural alignment procedures, and fabrication tolerances to ensure accurate assembly, fit-up, and installation of welded components and mechanical structures.
Familiarize boilermakers and welders with the range of fabrication and repair tools, equipment, and instruments used in structural maintenance activities—ensuring they understand correct usage, routine care, and correct storage for items such as welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, clamps, and measuring instruments.
Ensure that training programs for boilermakers and welders align with applicable regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company policies—fostering a strong safety culture and reinforcing compliance during fabrication, welding, and structural repair activities.
Assess boilermakers' and welders' knowledge and skills through written tests, hands-on practical assessments, and performance evaluations to verify competency in fabrication, welding techniques, structural repairs, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Collaborate with departments such as Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Training to align boilermaker and welder training initiatives with broader organizational goals—ensuring consistency in fabrication standards, safety practices, and operational readiness across teams.
Carry out inspections of the company tools and equipment that ensures that all equipment meets industry standards and regulations, thereby maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade Twelve (12) School CertificateDiploma in Engineering.Diploma in Teaching Methodology Minimum Three (3) years’ working experience.Must be a TEVETA Accredited Trainer/ AssessorMember of The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) & Energy Regulation Board (ERB)Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
