Welder Intermediate (TIG)
Job Overview: This role is responsible for performing welding tasks, components, structures, and hardware. Responsibilities and Duties Required: As an Intermediate Welder for Shapes Precision Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer in the metals industry, you will play a crucial role in our dynamic production team. This position requires a skilled professional with a strong foundation in welding techniques and a commitment to quality and safety. You will be responsible for performing various welding tasks to meet production needs while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship. + Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding process specifications. + Ensure all welds meet or exceed standards for quality and safety. + Operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring that it is in good working order. + Collaborate with the fabrication team to plan and execute complex welding projects. + Conduct inspections of welds to identify any defects and make necessary adjustments. + Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate protective gear. + Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes and techniques. + Work with welding equipment and other hand tools to assemble components as instructed by Operation Process Sheets. + Use fixtures to weld components and assemblies. + Bench & straighten welded parts while maintaining the quality of the weldment. + Determine weld heat pattern methods and sequences. + Follow weld schedules and inspect per requirements. + Operate sizer machines and automatic welder, develop programs, and optimize set-ups. + Perform welding operations using various welding materials including Inconel, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic materials. + Develop manual weld schedules to meet customer requirements. + Weld Inconel, steel, stainless steel, aluminum and exotic materials. + Recognize, understand, and use the correct fixtures required to build parts. + Welds must pass X-Ray/Class A. + Complete documentation accurately and scan on/off shop orders correctly. + Maintain a clean and safe work environment and contribute to Shapes' 6S program and Lean concepts and initiatives. + Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions. + Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications and Skills Required: + High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in welding preferred. + Must pass required qualifications test. + Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding, with proficiency in various welding techniques. + Certification in welding from a recognized institution is highly desirable. + Welds must be able to pass X-Ray/Class A. + Strong understanding of metallurgy and the properties of different metals. + Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings. + Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. + Ability to work independently or in a team environment. + Ability to read and follow company processes, policies, weld symbols, blueprints and procedures. + Ability to stay focused, adapt to change, and pay close attention to detail. + Ability to perform mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals) + Ability to use various inspection equipment. (Calipers, Micrometers, gage pins and height gages etc.) + Ability to pass annual eye exam which is required to maintain certifications. + Ability to multitask and work effectively and efficiently to shop order standards. + Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently. Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Physical Demands: + Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks. + May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces. + May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts. + Specific coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of equipment. + May work in close proximity to others. + Must wear protective clothing and gear as specified, including (but not limited to) steel toed shoes and protective eyewear. isual Acuity: + Ability to pass annual eye exam which is required to maintain certifications. + Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected. + Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. + Ability to read computer screen and documents. Hearing Ability: + Normal hearing or corrected to normal. + Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action. Working Conditions: + Factory environment. + Occasional work outside normal business hours. + High noise levels from operating machines. + Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts. + Breathing fumes, dust, and mist. + Skin exposure to chemicals associated with manufacturing.
