**Job Title: Welder** **Job Description**
As a Welder, you will play a crucial role in joining metal pieces together by striking an arc that generates the necessary heat. You will manually guide the electrode or welding gun to ensure precise welds in various positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead. Your keen eye will assess weld quality based on bead size, color, and other specifications.
**Responsibilities**
+ Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line to maintain the correct arc length and speed.
+ Examine welds to ensure they meet size and specification standards.
+ Apply filler rod manually to weld metal and ensure strong joins.
+ Clean or degrease weld joints or work pieces before welding.
+ Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
+ Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
+ Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
+ Preheat work pieces with a hand torch or heating furnace.
+ Position and clamp work pieces or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
+ Tack assemblies together to hold them in place.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with blueprints (preferred).
+ MIG welding experience (1+ years manually welding).
+ Basic understanding of welding fundamentals.
+ Experience with stainless, mild, or carbon steel.
+ Positive attendance history.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
+ Eagerness to learn and grow within the company.
+ Experience with hand and power tools.
+ Comfortable working in a non-temperature controlled environment.
+ Willingness to work overtime.
+ Availability for first shift.

**Work Environment**
You will be working in a non-temperature controlled environment, which can get very hot in the summer. The facility is medium-sized and maintained to be relatively clean, ensuring a comfortable workspace.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Altamont, IL.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
