Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Welder to join our team! In this role you will get to work in the Marshall Islands.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

A skilled tradesperson who specializes in joining metal parts together using heat, pressure, or both. Welding is a critical process in industries such as construction, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and shipbuilding. Welders play a vital role in creating and repairing structures, machinery, and equipment. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Disassembling and overhauling gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and other assemblies.Welds metals components together to fabricate or repair parts or assemblies according to blueprints, technical orders or instructions from other maintenance personnel. Uses gas welders, brazing equipment and combinations of arc welding processes.Uses welding processes to cut and grind. Repairs broken or cracked part fills holes and increases the size of metal parts.Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.Knowledgeable of safety requirements for welding, particularly in areas where flammable liquids and materials are located.Knowledgeable of base requirements to notify safety and fire personnel before welding in specified areas.Uses safety gear and knowledgeable of procedures.Cuts up scrap appropriate sizes for easy handling.Cleans and spot paints ground support equipment (GSE) to meet client's guidelines.Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Experience working on equipment over fifty (50) feet in air.Typically 2+ years experience in gas or arc welding is required.Experience in welding procedures used on ground support equipment (GSE) is preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of welding tools and equipmentGas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG): Uses a wire electrode and shielding gas for cleaner, faster welds.Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG): Provides precise, high-quality welds using a tungsten electrode.Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW): Also known as stick welding, uses an electrode to create the weld.
