**Who will you be working with?**
Our Wabtec Young Touchstone team combines knowledge of our customers’ product platforms/processes with industry expertise to deliver unparalleled product solutions. Here you’ll interact daily with all support team functions to solve problems and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.
**How will you make a difference?**
As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering group, you will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting welding processes with a strong focus on robotic welding applications. This role will drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and safety by applying welding engineering expertise, programming skills, and automation knowledge The position will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Leader of the business unit.
**What do we want to know about you?**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience), preferred
+ 3+ years of experience in welding engineering, with direct experience in robotic welding systems (Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, or similar).
+ Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG, TIG, spot welding, resistance welding, etc.).
+ Knowledge of weld metallurgy, materials, and defect prevention.
+ Experience with welding codes and standards (AWS, ISO, ASME).
+ Proven ability to program, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic welding systems.
+ Hands-on problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
+ Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
+ Strong analytical and project management skills.
+ We would prefer that you additionally have:
+ Experience with PLCs and automation integration.
+ Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge.
+ Weld inspection certifications (e.g., CWI).
+ Familiarity with CAD, simulation software, or offline robot programming.
**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Develop, optimize, and maintain robotic welding processes, parameters, and programs to ensure consistent weld quality.
+ Troubleshoot welding and robotic system issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
+ Work with design, production, and quality teams to ensure weld specifications meet customer and industry standards.
+ Support welding equipment installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance activities.
+ Conduct weld testing, inspections, and qualifications (e.g., destructive and non-destructive testing).
+ Develop and maintain welding process documentation (WPS, PQR, work instructions).
+ Provide technical training and support to operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on robotic welding systems.
+ Collaborate with suppliers, integrators, and vendors on equipment upgrades and new technology implementation.
+ Lead continuous improvement projects focused on automation, throughput, and quality.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (AWS, ISO, etc.).

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$77,400.00-$110,300.00
The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
