Job Title: Weight Control Engineer
Job Summary
The Weight Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, managing, and reporting project weight, mass, and center of gravity (CoG) throughout the project lifecycle. The role supports safe, compliant, and cost?effective project execution by ensuring weight estimates, budgets, and growth are controlled in line with project and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the development and implementation of the project Weight Control Philosophy and procedures. Prepare and maintain weight estimates, weight budgets, and weight registers across project phases (Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, EPC). Monitor weight growth, identify deviations, and support corrective and mitigation actions. Compile and update weight reports, summaries, and dashboards for internal and client reporting. Track dry weight, operating weight, live loads, and CoG throughout design development. Collect, review, and verify weight data from multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation). Review vendor and equipment weight data and ensure alignment with approved estimates. Support weight extraction from 3D models and MTOs (PDMS, E3D, SP3D, etc.). Support structural, transportation, lifting, load?out, and installation analyses with accurate weight data. Participate in design reviews, 3D model reviews, and weight control meetings. Assist in construction, fabrication, and as?built weight reconciliation activities. Ensure all weight control activities comply with client specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Naval Architecture, or related Engineering discipline. Minimum [5–8+] years of experience in weight control engineering within oil & gas, energy, offshore, or industrial projects. Experience supporting FEED, detailed design, and EPC phases is preferred. Exposure to offshore platforms, FPSOs, or modular facilities is an advantage. Technical Skills Good understanding of weight control methodology, weight management processes, and CoG tracking. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Experience working with weight data derived from: PDMS / AVEVA E3D SP3D MTOs and equipment datasheets Basic understanding of structural design, layouts, and installation constraints. Soft Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail. Good communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work independently while supporting senior weight control engineers. Organized and deadline?driven with a structured reporting mindset.
