Job Description Day to Day: The role involves creating, editing, and maintaining website content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and accessibility for a diverse audience. A key responsibility is implementing ADA and WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards across content structure, language, and navigation to meet legal and ethical accessibility requirements. The position includes conducting regular accessibility audits using both automated and manual tools to identify and resolve issues. Collaboration is essential, as the role works closely with web developers, UX designers, project managers, and legal teams to embed accessibility throughout the content lifecycle. Additional duties include writing effective alternative text for images, providing transcripts and captions for multimedia, and ensuring interactive elements are accessible via screen readers and keyboard navigation. The role also requires maintaining documentation of accessibility checks, remediation efforts, and compliance status for audits. Participation in usability testing with individuals who use assistive technologies is expected to gather feedback and enhance user experience. Finally, the position involves educating staff and stakeholders on the importance of web accessibility and ADA compliance through training and advocacy. Skills and Requirements Must Haves • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Communications, IT, English, or related field (or equivalent experience)  - Flexible on degree • Strong knowledge of accessibility standards including ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.1• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, and accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, Axe, Lighthouse) • Experience with CMS platforms like WordPress, Drupal, or Sitecore, including accessibility plugins • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences • High attention to detail for editing and ensuring compliance in published content • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve accessibility barriers • Empathy and commitment to inclusive digital experiences and accessibility advocacy Plusses • Certification in web accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC or WAS) • Experience auditing and remediating accessibility for large-scale digital platforms • Knowledge of ARIA specifications and techniques • Familiarity with assistive technologies like screen readers, magnifiers, and alternative input devices • Background in user-centered design and usability testing with diverse user groups
