OPERATIVE JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE:                          VISUAL INSPECTOR

 

DEPARTMENT:                  FINISHING

 

PAY LEVEL:                         H05                            

 

 

JOB FUNCTION:

 

To provide a systematic visual inspection to cast parts.

 

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Read and apply the Quality Engineering Specification (QES) to the visual inspection of a casting, using a scan pattern for the inspection.

 

Indications are evaluated and a decision is made to accept or reject the casting based on the acceptance of the QES.

 

Operate air powered tool to remove defects and/or rework castings.

 

Grit blast parts in an enclosed grit blast cabinet, as necessary.

 

“Toy Soldier” inspection of parts in order to help identify any differences in groups of parts per the QES.

 

Lifting of individual parts (up to 6 pounds) and a tray of parts (up to 25 pounds) is required.

 

 

                                                                                  

EDUCATION:

 

High school education.

 

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

Nine months OJT training.

 

 

INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY:

 

Normal initiative and ingenuity.

 

 

EFFORT:

 

Normal effort required.  Lift/move 5-15 pounds, 2 or more times per hour.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Responsible for self.  May train Inspector I’s as required.  Make sure parts meet quality standards.  Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.
