We are seeking a Water / Wastewater Operator-in-Training for assignment in Farmington, New Mexico. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the operations and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
** This position has a pay rate of $22.95/hr **
Responsibilities- Operates treatment facility to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge and effluent
- Reports operating problems to lead operator or supervisor and performs directed corrective action during assigned shift
- Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
- Observes and reports abnormalities of certified operator
- After training, operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control
- After training, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
- Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings
- Leans and gains skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing, and operating tasks
- Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
- Takes and records reading produced from the operation of equipment
- Learns to take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator
- Travel between work locations is required
- Performs other as required
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Drivers License
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
