Grow with us, H2O+U. **Your Opportunity** Our Water Team has an opportunity for a Water Resources Engineering Graduate (based in Ottawa) who has a passion for hydrology and hydraulics, including the assessment and design of drainage and stormwater management (SWM) infrastructure, and protection of receiving watercourses. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail-oriented team player who is excited about expanding their knowledge on water resources projects with a focus on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, report writing, field work, and design. The qualified candidate will assist intermediate / senior engineers and project leaders by performing tasks that include fieldwork, calculations, modelling, data analysis, reporting, designs, drawings, and other engineering assignments, all in a friendly, fast-paced work environment. If you are interested in helping to deliver water resources projects, this is an exceptional opportunity to join a highly regarded team of water resources engineers, hydrologic / hydraulic modelers, and designers. **Your Key Responsibilities** As the successful candidate, you will use your technical abilities to assist with and complete water resources component(s) of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting. You will report directly to the Team Lead. Responsibilities include: + Provide support on simple and complex studies, modelling and design tasks on a wide variety of water resources infrastructure projects, from planning and conceptual design through preliminary / detailed design, construction, and operational support. + Projects will include master drainage plans, floodplain delineation, highway drainage design, erosion studies, drainage/SWM infrastructure design, and stormwater retrofit flood studies. + Collaborate with both intermediate and senior engineers and hydrologic/hydraulic modelers and project leaders to ensure that the projects’ needs are met, and priorities are understood. + Assist with hydrologic / hydraulic modeling of stormwater runoff and floodplains, assessment and design of SWM controls, flood mitigation measures, culverts and storm sewers, road/highway drainage, and low impact development (LID) measures + Participate in multi-disciplinary projects related to water, transportation, environmental, and community development projects. + Undertake field investigations to confirm existing SWM infrastructure and drainage patterns. + Interpret and communicate model results in technical reports, design briefs and presentations. + Assist with preparation of stormwater master plans and design briefs and technical reports. + Assist with preparation of conceptual and detailed design drawings using CAD tools. + Attend internal/external client meetings and document the meetings with minutes. **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Willingness to strive for excellence in all aspects of their work activities and find it personally rewarding to meet and overcome challenges. + Sound understanding of water, environmental principles, and engineering concepts, including water resources hydrology and hydraulics. + Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work products. + Basic experience with industry-standard hydraulic/hydrologic modelling tools, including PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D. + Basic experience analyzing and managing data, interpreting hydraulic model results and producing clear visuals to demonstrate results. + Basic experience with floodplain analysis and erosion protection measures. + Familiarity with natural channel design and fluvial geomorphology. + Knowledge of Ontario’s stormwater guidelines and regulations and familiarity with linear infrastructure design is considered an asset. + Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects and adjust to changing demands. + Ability to produce robust technical writing pieces (e.g. reports or proposals). + Highly skilled in common desktop packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) + Strong interpersonal, time management and communication skills (verbal and written). + Experience with the following would be considered an asset: + Application of AI to engineering and modelling tasks + Knowledge of open-source data relevant to hydrologic and hydraulic modelling + Coding relevant to hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and GIS/data processing + Knowledge of trends and technologies in modelling and water resources engineering. + Experience working with municipalities, utility owners or in engineering consulting. **Education and Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university, preferably in Water Resources or Environmental sub-discipline. + Registered as an Engineering-Intern (EIT) or P.Eng. (or eligible to register) in Canada. + Minimum 2 years of related work experience. **Work Environment** Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time.
