This position may be eligible for a sign on/bonus. Position: The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Water Quality Staff Engineer for the Lewiston Regional Office. Positions established at the staff engineer level may be underfilled at the associate or engineer-in-training levels. After successfully completing a training plan, meeting the minimum qualifications for the staff engineer level, and receiving a professional engineering license, the employee will be reclassified and compensated as a staff engineer. Salary Range: ENGINEER IN TRAINING $28.00–$29.00 ENGINEER, ASSOCIATE $29.00–$31.25 ENGINEER, STAFF $33.00–$37.50 Responsibilities: · Implement the Wastewater Reuse Program. · Provide engineering support for the Grants and Loans Bureau, the Idaho Pollutant Discharge Elimination Service Program, and municipality/district infrastructure improvements for drinking water and wastewater systems. · Conduct engineering reviews for wastewater and drinking water systems. · Prepare permits and assess compliance for reuse systems. · Assist wastewater systems with compliance. · Support the Grants and Loans Bureau, including assigned grants and loans reimbursement oversight. Minimum Qualifications: ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING AND ENGINEER ASSOCIATE LEVELS Minimum Qualifications · Certification by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers as an Engineer-In-Training · OR Certification as an EIT from another jurisdiction that included graduation from a four-year engineering curriculum accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) · OR graduation from a four-year engineering curriculum accredited by the EAC/ABETPLUSverification that the candidate has passed the Fundamental of Engineering Examination within six months of hire date · AND Possession of a valid driver’s license The Engineer-In-Training level is met based on the minimum qualifications listed above. The Engineer Associate level is met based on the minimum qualifications listed aboveANDat least two years of work experience post-certification. STAFF LEVEL Minimum Qualifications · Licensure: Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE), or eligibility for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12 · Analyzing , interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws when applying professional engineering principles and practices; writing technical engineering reports; evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard engineering plans, specifications and standards in completing projects; coordinating field work and inspecting projects or facilities for compliance with standards · AND Possession of a valid driver’s license WORKING CONDITIONS (with or without accommodations) Much of the work occurs in an office environment. Ability to sit and work on a computer 2-4 hours at a time with period of heavy reading. May be required to occasionally travel and also travel while staying overnight in remote areas.
