JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Wastewater Plant Laborer/Technician

FLSA status: hourly

Location: Waco

Essential Duties:

Performs typical maintenance tasks in the wastewater treatment areaDetect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Lead Operator or ManagerOperates the treatment plant according to the SOP received at hire and any changes made afterwards. Maintains the work area including the Parts cage and Chemical storage buildings in a clean and orderly condition

Knowledge and skills:

Must be able to perform but is not limited to the following skills: plumbing, minor electrical repairs, equipment and pump repairs and operation of all aspects of the treatment plant as needed to maintain compliance with discharge standards and any other tasks as defined but not limited to the SOP received at his/her hireMust be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches and equipment OEMMust be comfortable working in a team environment as well as alone on varying shiftsRequired to use considerable judgment when performing and planning to perform his/her tasks

Job Requirements:

Must become familiar with the waste treatment systemMust have a good work history and attendance recordMust have a history of safe work practicesMust be familiar with plant safety policiesMust be able to perform preventative maintenance tasksMust be able to perform all maintenance required in the wastewater departmentMust obey all USDA, HACCP and general plant rules

Training Requirements:

General Safety, Lock-Out-Tag-Out, HAZMAT, Forklift Safe operation

Physical Demands:

Some heavy lifting up to 70 lbs and moving of equipment

Education Requirements:

High School/GED or technical school Diploma

Supervisory Requirements:

None

Work Environment:

Exposure to dust, odors. Oil, fumes, noise and damp indoor and outdoor climate
