Salary: $2573 / Week
The Labor and Delivery nurse assumes responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in the L&D Setting. The Labor and Delivery nursedemonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective andefficient manner with supervision.
The labor and delivery nurse works with Mothers duringthe final stages of pregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the Mother’svital signs, and becoming astute in signs and symptoms of possiblecomplications. The labor and delivery nurse is involved in patienteducation and addressing the psychosocial needs of Mothers after delivery anddemonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination ofpatient care. Consistently performs according to nursing standardsand is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in themanagement of patient care.
MinimumRequirements:
+ Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.
+ One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience within the last three years preferred.
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age

On Call: One shift/week
• BLS & ACLS – Required
• NRP - Required
• AWHONN - Intermediate electronic fetal monitoring -Required
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse instate/district - Required
• L&D Experience - Required: 2 Years
"Patient population includes, Females ofchildbearing years, pregnant 17 weeks gestation, laboring, scheduled procedures(C-sections, external cephalic versions, cerclage (we try not to do these onthe unit)), and Triage issues. Theactivity on the unit includes admissions, discharges, transfers, pre-op, anddeliveries (vaginal and C/S). Commonequipment used in Labor and Delivery includes Fetal Monitors, Cerner and Fetalink documentation. "
