As the VP, RD&E, you will be responsible for driving the company’s product development and technology strategy. In collaboration with the Business Unit’s leadership team, this position will create innovation and technology strategies while ensuring achievement of growth and profitability objectives. This role will provide leadership, management, and coaching to a multifaceted RD&E organization to ensure workforce effectiveness and support of the overall operations of the business.

This position reports to the VP & GM and is part of the Bioprocess Single Use Technologies located in one of Cytiva's locations including Marlborough, MA, Hoegaarden, Belgium, or Portsmouth, United Kingdom, and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Develop a technology strategy with product and platform roadmaps and required capabilities to deliver the business strategy. Continually monitor technological changes, market trends, competitive products/pricing to identify and analyze products, services and solutions to be developed and delivered to the marketplace. Accelerate market entry to outpace competitors.Lead global RD&E investments, ensuring alignment to the Business Unit strategy, and facilitating prioritization across various projects in the portfolio. Work closely across the organization to manage all aspects related to improved quality through product life cycle management.Partner with other functions including Marketing, Sales, Product Management, Operations, Quality and the Central Technology Organization (CTO) to assess new technologies and other strategic opportunities aligned to market trends and customer needs. Identify and implement RD&E best practices, continuous improvement, functional excellence an DBS growth programs.Ensure product and technology development across the Business Unit’s projects and sustaining engineering activities, manage the full product lifecycle. Execute on program plans for quality, cost and schedule targets. Drive execution of product development activities that are cross-functional and multi-site.Communicate the business strategy and tactics clearly to the global team and provide feedback to colleagues, the leadership team and other Business Unit teams on progress, opportunities and challenges.Responsible for performance and talent management to ensure the continued development for direct reports. Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals.Create a trusted relationships with team members. Coach the team to enhance their network and identify challenging / stretch roles or projects to support career progression. Champion organizational inclusion through development of an organizational plan that addresses the representational mix of the team and enhances associates’ sense of belonging.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Life Sciences discipline. Master’s degree preferred.15 years’ relevant experience.7 years knowledge biopharmaceutical industry.Knowledge of GMP requirements for biomanufacturing.
