Description

The VP of Hospital and Procedural Operations leads in developing the philosophy, goals, and objectives for hospital operations and procedural areas at surgical specialty hospital.

 

Provides administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling functions and activities of all phases of Perioperative Services and Hospital Operations including Operating Room, Pre-/Postoperative Units, Preadmission Testing, Sterile Processing, ICU and Acute Care Inpatient Units as well as guiding support functions of the hospitalPromotes increased case volume/market share through development and provision of operationally marketable surgery program, assurance of positive relations with Surgeons, and provision of patient service-oriented surgical and inpatient programsManages the overall hospital operations in accordance with Hospital administered policies, standards of nursing and clinical practices, and governmental regulations providing excellent care for all patientsProvides nursing and operational accountability for the quality improvement program in collaboration with interdisciplinary team including surgeons and anesthesiaImplements standards and administers clinical practice, evaluates clinical outcomes, and maintains patients' clinical recordsWorks collaboratively with other members of the medical staff, other Hospital Departmental Managers, and Hospital AdministrationPlans, directs, coordinates, implements, delegates, controls, and evaluates the continuity of care, quality of care, and customer services consistent with departmental best practice standards and objectivesDesigns, develops, organizes, directs, measures, and promotes programs to the medical staff and Hospital AdministrationMakes necessary changes to procedures and programs to promote practices that are responsive to patient's needsMonitors and assures compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations and Hospital policies for the safe and efficient delivery of quality patient careCompletes and approves annual operations, capital expense and FTE budgetsDirects necessary analysis, factoring financial need into budget projections, and presents proposed budgets for final approvalDevelops, implements, monitors, and measures programs for staff recruitment and retentionLeads or facilitates all standing committeesCommunicates with Physicians and works closely with the Medical Directors to maintain a high standard of medical care and development of client relationships with Surgeons, Anesthesia and Hospital MedicineCollaborates with interdisciplinary team in the development of initiatives for process improvement, focusing on optimizing patient experience, workforce utilization, and achieving quality goalsEnsures the consistent and effective execution of key systems and processes that make effective use of organizational resourcesCreates a work environment in which employees are committed to their organization and feel pride and job ownershipBuilds strategic alliances and partnerships within the organization to collaboratively execute business strategies optimizing ambulatory and inpatient operations and effectively incorporating customer perspectivesPossesses knowledge of professional standards, principles, and proceduresDemonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skillsPossesses knowledge of Joint Commission guidelines and state/federal regulations and standardsDemonstrates strong financial, marketing, and personnel management skillsDemonstrates strong project management and change managements skillsDemonstrates strong strategic planning and data analytics skillsDemonstrates leadership skills with emphasis on staff retentionDemonstrates knowledge of computer systems and software


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a master's degree in business, finance, healthcare or related science field requiredRequires seven years progressive acute care or professional business management experienceStrong communication and organizational/planning skills with demonstrated leadership abilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Surgical or procedural experience strongly preferred

2. Ideal candidate would have experience in overseeing a service line and operations in a complex fast paced academic hospital system
