About This Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Engagement, The Volunteer Onboarding Specialist supports initiatives to improve the member experience journey for new Unit Guiders, from recruitment and screening through placement and onboarding. This role focuses on creating a streamlined, consistent, and engaging experience that supports volunteer success and retention. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role will design and implement process improvements, develop tools and resources, and ensure alignment across departments.
Position Specifics:
Lead and collaborate on cross-functional initiatives to improve the experience for new Unit Guiders.Map current processes, identify pain points, and design solutions that are scalable and enhance volunteer experience.Develop and refine tools, templates, and training materials to support process improvement to the screening and onboarding experience.Apply best practices in user experience and adult education to content management as part of a framework for information delivery.Audit and optimize the communications journey for new Unit Guiders to ensure clarity, consistency, and simplicity across all recruitment, screening, and onboarding touchpoints.Design and deliver engaging online and live learning experiences that are user-centered, measurable, and apply change management principles to support successful adoption.Collaborate with team members to monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics to inform continuous improvement and decision-making.Coordinate consultations and training with Guiders, administrative volunteers, and staff.Support and coach volunteers, including administrative volunteers.Contribute to, and at times lead, project meetings to drive results from various stakeholders.Collaborate with staff teams and volunteers to keep projects on track, manage resources, and ensure alignment.Utilize online tools and software to support consultation, evaluation, and project management.Prepare progress updates on assigned initiatives for inclusion in regular training reports for National Board of Directors, Provincial Committees, and others as required.Apply organizational policies regarding inclusivity to content, member communications, and customer service.
General
Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Related post-secondary education or equivalent work experience3 years of experience in project management, program design, or volunteer engagement.Experience improving processes or designing user journeys.Experience designing adult learning experiences and rolling out training programs. Strong project management skills including planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify and align existing messaging with organizational tone and strategy.Excellent facilitation skills.Familiarity with volunteer engagement or onboarding programs.Adept at working with multiple and diverse stakeholders in different locations while applying diplomacy, tact, and empathy.Elevated understanding of adult education best practices and user-centric design.Hands-on experience assessing needs and applying findings to the design and development of learning materials and resources.Self-driven and able to work both independently and as part of a team. The skills to coordinate multiple projects.Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, combined with resourcefulness, critical thinking, and attention to detail.Strong adaptability and flexibility with a high degree of comfort with change.A demonstrated understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.Flexible to travel as required.
Assets Include:
Familiarity with learning management systems, CRM systems (e.g., iMIS), or dashboard tools is an asset..
Hiring Range: $55,100– $65,030 Annually
