**Job Summary**
**Information Systems Engineers**
Design, develop, maintain, and support technical infrastructure that includes network, hardware, database and/or system software components. Conduct analysis of business problems and lead the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements. Research and design best fit infrastructure, network, database, and/or security architectures. Guide configuration, debugging, and support for infrastructure and ensure all quality and change control standards are met. Assist with root cause investigations and provide recommendations for preventative measures. Proactively address gaps with existing support processes, documentation, etc. and prioritize accordingly.
The Unified Communications Voice Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise voice infrastructure, with a focus on modernizing legacy systems and integrating cloud-based Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) platforms. This role emphasizes expertise in SIP trunking, Session Border Controller ( SBC ) technologies, and the deployment of Lumen Voice Complete to ensure secure, scalable, and resilient voice communications. The engineer collaborates across IT teams to deliver high-performance voice solutions that align with organizational goals and evolving technology standards.

Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.

**Department Specific Responsibilities:**
Installs, configures, and maintains Avaya Aura IP PBX hardware, operating systems, and associated peripherals including Avaya Elite Multi-channel ( EMC ) Contact Center, CMS Reporting, Proactive Contact Dialer, Proactive Outreach Management, and Call Recording Systems.
Leads modernization efforts by implementing SIP -based VoIP solutions, including Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and Lumen Voice Complete SIP trunking, to replace legacy telephony infrastructure.
Designs and supports cloud-based CCaaS platforms, integrating with Avaya and Microsoft Teams environments to enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency.
Performs routine and complex system administration tasks such as software upgrades, system recovery, performance tuning, and operating system hardening.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop scalable network and voice architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise security and compliance standards.
Maintains comprehensive documentation including system topology, backup procedures, hardware inventories, change management records, and work orders.
Participates in on-call rotation for incident response and operational support.
Works closely with UIT teams including Telephone Technicians, Service Desk, Architecture, Security, Network Operations, Electronic Communications, and Account Executives.
Reports to the Associate Director of Unified Communications Voice Systems.
**Minimum Qualifications**
**EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

**Information Systems Engineer, II:** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
**Information Systems Engineer, III :** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
**Preferences**
Preferred minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a mission critical
operation within an education and trauma one 24/7 hospital environment
encompassing a large, complex high volume application environment.
