At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Desktop Engineering Services.  As a VMware Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc. 

In this role, a typical day will include: 

Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalabilityDesigns, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSANAnalyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specificationsIncorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operationsDevelops system architecture and system design documentationInteracts with the Government regarding technical considerations and regarding associated problems, issues, or conflictsResponsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

What you’ll need: 

Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI polyMust meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA SecurityBachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experienceStrong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVMProficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networkingKnowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANsVMware Certified Professional certification requiredAbility to learn new virtualization technologies
