The Refining & Chemicals legal department is based in both Brussels and Paris. The Litigation and Industrial and Commercial Contracts Department, composed of 8 lawyers, provides legal support to refining, petrochemical and polymer production sites in Europe, for product marketing, logistics, purchasing of goods and services, industrial projects and related litigation.

The VIE will join the Brussels team and support lawyers in contract analysis, drafting and negotiation, as well as litigation management. Work will mainly be under Belgian and French law, with possible interactions in English and Dutch law. The team works in English, French and sometimes Dutch.

As lawyer, you will

Support lawyers in legal advice for industrial and commercial activitiesAnalyse, draft and negotiate of contractsParticipate in litigation managementCollaborate with operational staff, sales, engineers and international contacts

The team operates primarily in English and French, with some files in Dutch.

The diversity of cases and activities offers rapid acquisition of practical experience in both continental law and common law.

Candidate Profile Education Required :Master’s degree in Law (business law, commercial law)International study or internship experience appreciated
Technical Skills :Strong knowledge of Commercial Law, Civil Law, and Common LawProficiency in drafting legal documentsStrong analytical and synthesis skillsInterest in negotiation 
IT Skills :Comfortable with digital toolsGood knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, especially Word
