Reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Corporate Shared Services, the Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) is a pivotal executive leadership role responsible for the strategic vision, direction and operational oversight of the entire supply chain function within our healthcare system. The CSCO will ensure an efficient, resilient, and cost-effective supply chain that directly supports the delivery of high-quality patient care and aligns with the organization's mission and strategic goals. The leader will play a critical role in shaping the future of WellSpan's supply chain, driving innovation, fostering strong internal and external partnerships and minimizing risks by maximizing the use of people, process and technology across the WellSpan system.
Strategic Leadership & Span of Control:
Set the strategic vision for the enterprise supply chain aligned with organizational goals and future-state operating model. Oversee all supply chain and procurement programs to include managing strategic procurement, sourcing, and contracting, supply chain operations and systems, analytics, operational excellence, materials management, project management, and supply chain clinical integration. Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain and procurement strategies that are scalable and align with organizational goals and objectives and provide visibility to results. Lead and drive strategic initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, effectiveness, and overall value. Optimize supply chain operations to improve inventory control, product availability, and total cost of ownership. Lead the supply chain management team, promoting a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Establish and maintain strong strategic relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Clinical Service Lines, Corporate Services, Office of General Counsel, Healthcare Compliance team and Clinicians) and external partners (e.g., suppliers, vendors). Maximize financial and operational value through effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management. Develop and maintain a robust leadership structure for centralized supply chain functions, including: - Strategic Procurement (Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Contracting, Supplier Relationship Management, Purchasing) - Operational Excellence - Clinical Integration (Medical Utilization, Value Analysis) - Operations and Systems (Supply Chain Systems Support, Analytics, Operations, and Warehouse Management) Represents the organization internally and externally at the executive level for all supply chain activities.
Operational Process Improvement Excellence:
Vendor and Supplier Relationship Management: Evaluate and maintain GPO and prime Distributor relationships to ensure benefits are optimized. Manage suppliers to ensure material availability and service meet required standards. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating favorable terms and driving value-added partnerships. Monitor supplier performance, ensuring accountability for delivering high-quality products and services in a timely manner. Oversee efforts to evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as cost, quality, service, and innovation.
Compliance, Financial and Operational Performance:
Develop and manage the supply chain and procurement budget, focusing on cost control and value creation. Monitor and manage expenses to support organizational cost reduction goals and provide regular financial performance reports. Work closely with finance team to monitor and report on supply chain performance metrics, and ensuring financial targets are met. Identify and implement opportunities for expense management to achieve organizational margin improvement goals. Maintain a thorough understanding of economic, supplier, and industry conditions to make proactive decisions and policies. Take a leadership role in developing, quantifying, and implementing service and cost reduction programs system wide. Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and organizational policies. Conduct regular assessments and audits of supply chain processes to ensure ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare management, or a related field required; Master's Degree in supply chain or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive senior operational leadership experience in a large institution of similar size and complexity to WellSpan Health. Experience leading the supply chain function at an enterprise level. Process improvement experience through a Lean Management System. Excellent presentation and communication skills to work effectively with both internal and external parties. A style that builds strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively. Effective leadership skills and experience hiring, developing, and motivating a high-performing team.
