JOB DESCRIPTION:

The VP of Media Investments is responsible for leading the strategic, financial, and operational management of Take 5’s media investments. This role is accountable for maximizing the efficiency and impact of every Ad Fund dollar across channels.

The VP will own the relationship with our media agency of record, set the investment strategy, and ensure rigorous planning, buying, and measurement practices. Working hand-in-hand with the VP of Integrated Marketing, this leader ensures that channel strategy and creative strategy are fully aligned to drive Cars Per Day (CPD) and brand health.

This is a builder role: the VP will be expected to refine and grow a best-in-class media team (analytics, digital/social, campaign management) while also serving as a senior advisor to the CMO and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Own media investment strategy: Define channel mix, allocation, and flighting for national, regional, and local campaigns.

Lead agency relationship: Manage the media AOR to ensure accountability, performance, and innovation; negotiate scope, fees, and contracts.

Financial stewardship: Optimize the Ad Fund by aligning investments to CPD, retention, and awareness KPIs. Partner with finance to forecast, track, and report spend.

Analytics + optimization: Partner with Senior Manager, Media Analytics to ensure MMM, attribution, and campaign reporting inform investment decisions.

Partnership with VP, Integrated Marketing: Align media strategy with creative and brand architecture to ensure cohesive storytelling.

Digital leadership: Oversee performance marketing, SEM, paid social, CTV, and emerging platforms; ensure rigorous measurement and test-and-learn discipline.

Talent development: Build, mentor, and manage a small in-house team (analytics, digital/social, budget coordination).

Stakeholder management: Present investment strategies and performance readouts to executive leadership, board members, and franchisee councils.

Industry foresight: Stay ahead of market trends, pricing shifts, and new opportunities to ensure Take 5 is investing smartly.

What This Role Does vs. CMO

VP Media: Owns the where, when, and how much of paid investment.

CMO: Sets the why and overarching vision.

The VP Media turns vision into a precise, accountable investment strategy that delivers ROI.

Qualifications

12+ years in media planning/buying, with deep experience managing agencies of record.

Proven track record of leading large-scale media investments ($50M+ annually) with measurable ROI.

Strong command of MMM, attribution models, and performance dashboards.

Experience balancing national vs. local investments in a multi-unit or franchise environment strongly preferred.

Skilled negotiator with history of delivering value in agency and vendor contracts.

Strong leadership presence; can influence peers, franchisees, and senior executives.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Success Metrics (12 months)

+10% efficiency in media ROI through reallocation and optimization.

CPD impact directly attributable to media lift (measured via MMM).

Improved Ad Fund credibility with transparent reporting and accountability.

Agency consolidation and optimization complete, with one retained AOR delivering scalable value.

Team built and operating: analytics, campaign management, and budget coordination in place.
