Allied Universal® is hiring a Vice President, Government Relations. Allied Universal®, a global leader in security and facility services, is seeking a Vice President of Government Relations to lead our public affairs efforts and strengthen relationships across state, local, and federal government sectors. This role is in-person and based at our corporate headquarters In Irvine, CA. Reporting to the Global Chief Communications & Investor Relations Officer (with a dotted-line to the President, Government Services), you will serve as a key representative of Allied Universal—building partnerships with public officials, tracking legislative developments, and supporting policy initiatives that advance our business goals. In this strategic role, you will play a critical part in managing government engagement, influencing public policy, working with outside lobbying firms and identifying opportunities that support our mission to keep people and communities safe.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Policy Advocacy & Government Engagement
Collaborate with the company's President, Government Services and Chief Communications & Investor Relations Officer to develop and lead Allied Universal’s government affairs strategy, with a focus on federal, state and local engagement, public safety policy, and civic partnershipsAct as the company’s primary representative to public officials, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholdersBuild and maintain influential relationships with elected leaders, government agencies, and key public-sector partnersMonitor legislation and regulatory activity; provide strategic insights to senior leadership on emerging risks and opportunitiesRepresent Allied Universal at legislative hearings, policy briefings, and community events to advance our mission and strengthen our public-sector presenceCross-Functional Collaboration
Manage relationships with external lobbyists, consultants, and policy advisors to drive coordinated advocacy effortsWork closely with Government Services, Legal, Operations, Communications, and Business Development teams to align key policy goals and messagingPrepare and deliver timely, actionable updates, policy briefs, and strategic recommendations to senior leadershipSupporting Growth and Public-Sector Strategy
Identify and analyze legislative or regulatory developments that could impact or enable business opportunitiesProvide policy support to field and sales teams on public-sector proposals, bids, and contracting strategiesHelp position Allied Universal as a trusted partner to government agencies and community leaders nationwideQUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Business, or related fieldMust have a valid driver’s license for travel and public engagementMinimum of ten (10) years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or advocacy roles, preferably with a strong focus on state and local governmentProven experience working with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and trade associations across multiple jurisdictionsStrong understanding of state and local government processes, public policy, and legislative strategyDemonstrated ability to manage high-profile relationships and navigate complex political environmentsExceptional communication skills - both oral and written - with experience briefing senior executivesStrategic thinker with excellent problem-solving, planning, and analytical skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and policy tracking or government affairs toolsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
Advanced degree (Master’s, JD)Experience in a regulated industry (security, public safety, transportation, infrastructure, etc.)Background working directly with public agencies or elected officialsBENEFITS:
Base salary range of $175,000 - $225,000, depending on experience and location, plus annual bonus eligibilityMedical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insuranceEnrollment in our company’s 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirementsEight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal daysVacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly.
