**Vice President, Global Analytics Engineering**
**_Purpose_**
The Vice President, Analytics Engineering is a pivotal leader in shaping and executing the bank's enterprise data and analytics engineering strategy to enable the bank become a data- and AI-driven organization. The incumbent will champion a culture of data excellence and innovation, ensuring the analytics infrastructure is a core driver of business growth, operational efficiency, and superior client experiences.
The incumbent will lead the global analytics engineering team and practice overseeing the design and implementation of data systems, pipelines and analytics platforms to deliver actionable insights for the business.
The position plays a leading strategic role in working with peers in Customer Insights Data & Analytics (CID&A) in defining and guiding how the business applies and leverages data, analytics, and client insights to support key business processes and objectives, as well as driving adoption and integration efforts throughout, while maintaining compliance to bank policies and applicable regulations.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**Analytics Engineering**
+ Drive Scotiabank to become a data-driven organization through the development, and broad adoption, of data engineering and analytics devOps capabilities and practices.
+ Guide the development, deployment and maintenance of data/analytics products. These products can be either developed by the team or jointly with other Analytics teams.
+ Ensure the solutions developed are scalable, maintainable and adhere to industry best practices
+ Create frameworks on data and analytics engineering best practices and work with the CIO teams to drive adoption across the organization
+ Oversee the architecture of state-of-the-art data pipelines, data products, warehouses, and lakes to support advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning at scale.
+ Ensure the seamless integration and architecture of external and internal data sources to provide a 360-degree client view
+ Support the migration of Analytics teams’ processes onto the enhanced Analytics infrastructure and ultimately onto a cloud-based analytics platform
+ Lead, mentor and develop a high performing team of data and analytics engineers
**Overall**
+ Lead a client-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client insights and relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge to add value to internal stakeholders
+ Act as a trusted advisor and partner to senior executives in the bank, providing strategic direction and oversight for the development, prioritization, and implementation of data and advanced analytics products across the client lifecycle.
+ Partner with senior leaders within functional areas and business units to understand business objectives and formulate/deliver client-centric analytics solutions
+ Work with business stakeholders to identify and integrate new and emerging data sources to enrich the bank's data assets and unlock innovative use cases.
+ Coordinate strategic plans across business lines to allow for faster scale across the enterprise
+ Accountable for the flawless execution and delivery of the agreed-upon data engineering and analytics platform objectives, ensuring committed benefits are realized
+ Partner with business lines to translate their business strategies and needs into client-centric data and analytics solutions that deliver value add, while coordinating with other Analytics teams, Technology, and Risk partners
+ Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders in the various markets across the bank’s footprint to enable a culture that promotes critical thinking and change leadership
+ Effectively drive forward multiple client, product, or channel data and analytics projects that provide insights, guide strategy formulation and aid resource optimization
+ Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits
+ Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
+ Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, using a coaching mindset, and managing succession planning
**_Education / Experience / Other Information_**
+ Master's or advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics; or an MBA with a technical focus.
+ 15+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics, and/or software engineering, with at least 10 years in leadership role within a complex, large-scale organization (financial services industry strongly preferred)
+ Proven track record of leading enterprise-wide data transformation initiatives and platform modernization programs with measurable business impact.
+ Deep expertise in modern data stacks, cloud ecosystems (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), and production-grade ML/AI platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake)
+ Expert knowledge of MLOps, DevOps, Data Governance frameworks, and scalable data architecture patterns (e.g., Data Mesh, Data Fabric).
+ Recognized and resilient team leader who inspires a results-oriented, customer-centric culture.
+ Exceptional business planning, strategy development and execution skills
+ Proven relationship management skills with demonstrated seamless collaboration across senior executives, business, and technology stakeholders
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain highly technical data concepts and findings to non-technical and executive audiences
