General Summary:

Key management position requiring strong leadership skills to oversee the construction, project management, exterior signage, store design, scheduling and store merchandising opening activities for Dollar General’s extensive store growth and development program.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Exemplary leadership and representation of Dollar General’s mission and values “Serving Others” in relationships both inside and outside of the companySuccessful execution and delivery of the Dollar General growth and development programs to include: BTS and Shopping Center store openings and remodels Partner with senior management to establish and support strategic growth goals and remodel opportunities for the 5-year planMaintain company standards relative to construction contract negotiation, permitting and legal requirements, cost controls and capital management Approve all scopes of work, prototype plan and signage exhibit documentation for new, relocation and remodel sites, as required, for Real Estate Committee approval and lease execution Provide overall direction and leadership for the construction and store opening teams relative to the new and relocation store delivery process Partner with Operations, Transportation, Space Planning, Market Planning, Real Estate, Legal, Lease Administration to ensure the store opening goals are achieved within budgeted cost and scheduled delivery dates per the annual planAchieve current year new store opening sales weeks and timely completion of remodels and relocations and maintain administrative and capital budgets Provide overall direction in the development of Dollar General prototypical building plans and specifications, exterior signage and site criteria
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Strong retail construction and engineering industry reputation and a track record of building relationships with developers and contractors Ability to evaluate construction trends and develop a clear and concise strategy to optimize project management, on time deliveries and cost controls. Knowledge of legal and regulatory issues related to construction project management and development and build to suit development and retail leasesExcellent interpersonal skills, articulate communicator, able to provide clear and concise direction to a team to ensure delivery of goals and objectives Strong analytical skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting dataExtensive knowledge of the retail real estate development, construction and store opening processes with the ability to improve efficiencies and costsExcellent leadership and motivational skills, team building and coachingSolution and results-oriented leadership and organizational skillsAbility to effectively work in collaboration with others to achieve business objectives in a participative management style

Work Experience and/or Education:

 

A minimum of 10 years commercial construction or engineering experience with at least five (7) years retail real estate experience in a leadership role

 

Bachelor’s degree required in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering
