Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Vice President, Commercial Director, for the DCS Americas Business:
The Americas Commercial Director leads the regional commercial management function, with a primary focus on recruiting, training, and deploying Commercial Managers to major infrastructure programs. This role is responsible for developing and implementing robust commercial strategies that align with project delivery models and client objectives. As a subject matter expert, the Director guides contract negotiations, oversees project controls, and ensures commercial compliance across complex projects. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in contract management, project controls, and strategic leadership, and is committed to mentoring talent, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the successful delivery of high-impact programs. The Commercial Director will report directly to the Americas Chief Operating Officer.
Vice President, Commercial Director, Americas
Reporting to the Americas Chief Operating Officer, this position will serve as subject matter expert within the commercial management group and act as a resource to the Commercial Managers on projects and the business as a whole.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Develop and implement commercial strategies for major infrastructure programs.In support of deployment on major projects and programs, hire, train, and mentor Commercial Managers, supporting succession planning and identifying high-potential talent.Contribute to strategic planning, resource allocation, and staffing decisions for major pursuits and active projects.Deliver training programs commercial management topics and support talent development across the commercial management function.Strategic Commercial Oversight
Lead negotiations with clients, partners, and subcontractors in coordination with project leadership.Participate in strategic pursuits, contributing to commercial planning and alignment with project delivery models.Collaborate with global Commercial Directors and cross-functional teams including Project Management, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Risk, Finance, Legal, and Procurement.Act as a resource and facilitator for resolving complex commercial issues, ensuring alignment with client objectives and organizational goals.Review and evaluate complex construction contracts, advising on commercial implications, risk exposures, and compliance requirements.Draft, review, and maintain comprehensive project procedures and commercial documentation to support governance and execution.Oversee and validate change order processes, ensuring full visibility, traceability, and commercial impact assessment of scope changesCollaboration & Governance
Collaborate globally with other Commercial Directors and internal stakeholders across finance, legal, procurement, and technical disciplines.Provide monthly commercial status updates to the PD&C leader and executive oversight committees.Act as a resource for resolving commercial issues while maintaining strong client relationships.Play a key role in commercial risk assessments and ensure contractual risks are managed throughout the project lifecycle.Lead or support commercial aspects of project pursuits, RFQ/RFP responses, and bid preparations, especially for complex alternative delivery projects.QualificationsMinimum Requirements
BA/BS + 12 Years of Experience in A/E/C Industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.Experience in business development, capture and project / program delivery for pursuits greater than $25M.Preferred Qualifications:
