Veterinary Extern - Specialty SAGE - Concord
NVA
Applicants must be third or fourth-year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools, pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent.
We are eagerly looking for students interested in integrative medicine. Veterinary students would be introduced to the field of integrative medicine as both a stand-alone service and also in the context of a large specialty and emergency hospital. Specific modalities we use are acupuncture, chiropractic, and Traditional Chinese Medicine and herbs.
Dr. Wendy Wallace has been practicing for 33 years. She started as a general practitioner and began adding these modalities to her practice over a 20-year period. She currently practices only integrative medicine. Her schedule is 3 days a week, Tuesday through Thursday. There would be opportunities to observe a different specialty on Mondays and Fridays if the student was interested (small animal surgery).
Dr. Wallace's other accomplishments: TA for IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) Speaker at the UC Davis Integrated Medicine Club Speaker at international symposiums at the Chi Institute and The American Veterinary Acupuncture Society Sponsor of a veterinary student scholarship in Integrated Medicine every year
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at SAGE - Concord are designed for 3rd and 4th year students.
