VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center is a high volume, AAHA accredited, referral and critical care hospital located in West Los Angeles. ASEC is proud to be one of LA's leading 24-hour specialty animal care centers for over 30 years now. As a teaching hospital with six specialties and over 200 staff members on our team, we host externs, interns, and specialty residents every year. We are currently seeking experienced ECC Doctor’s Assistants to join our team.

Compensation : $ 25 - 36 / hr

Compensation for this position is dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities.

ECC Veterinary Doctor’s Assistant:

Doctor's assistants have the opportunity to be a part of providing critical care services and excellent customer service while working alongside our veterinarians, technicians, and front desk team. We are seeking highly organized individuals with strong multi-tasking and customer service skills. Current experience (within the last 2 years) in veterinary medicine is highly recommended, and experience in emergency or specialty medicine is a huge plus!

Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Obtain initial patient histories from the clientTranscribe physical exam findings, lab results, imaging reports, etc. into medical recordsCreate financial estimatesClient communication and educationPerforming client/patient follow-up phone callsCreate and process prescription refillsMaintain medical recordsReview discharge instructions with clientsComplete lab submission forms

Scheduling:

Full-time employees work “4 x 10s”, part-time employees work 8-hour shiftsOvernight hours are paid an additional differential.All schedules include working one weekend day (either Sat or Sun)
