OVERVIEW: The purpose of the Clinical Lead (also known as Lead Technician or Technician Supervisor) is to provide ongoing support for all direct reports and serve as on-site first level management. Clinical leads are to work in collaboration with peers, middle and upper management to engage in operational and strategic decision making, and work to oversee such implementations.
REQUIREMENTS
Performance:
Minimum of 4 full days to be worked weekly. Minimum 5 years of clinical experience.Be an employee in good standing with no egregious corrective actions in the past 2 years.Attendance and punctuality is sufficient to “lead by example”. Has shown the ability to gain the trust of your peers, and the ability to lead and motivate.Commit to a minimum of 4 hours of C.E. annually on leadership and HR related topics (or any non-clinical topic deemed sufficient).Clinical:
PIMS (Cornerstone) proficiency and a leader in new technologyIn-house laboratory analyzers and equipmentDental machines, including maintenance and troubleshootingAnesthetic machines and equipment, including maintenance and troubleshootingVital monitoring equipmentAdvanced skills demonstrated in patient compassion, restraint, phlebotomy, venipuncture, pharmacology, radiology, surgical assistance, client communication, safety and controlled substance handling.Ability to lift 40 pounds and work on feet for extended periods of time. The ability to safely and compassionately work with any animal, fractious or not.Demonstrate proficiencies in the duties outlined as a veterinary technician.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical:
Support direct reports as needed to maintain daily clinical flow. This will require coverage for absentee employees, or finding proper coverage for absentee employees.Provide clinical training and oversite for all direct reports OR delegate such responsibility when able.Predict staffing needs in advance when known overages or shortages are expected.Project clinical needs each day upon arrival and make changes as needed.Creation of SOP’s and clinical policies alongside MDVM and HM.Intervention and mediation in client communications that need resolution. Ensure all staff are taking required breaks and lunches during their shifts and providing coverage as needed.Uphold our Team Agreements and keep direct reports in alignment, even when difficult conversations are required.Administrative:
Work with HM and MDVM to create/revise staff schedules as needed.Work with HM to provide timely performance evaluations.Perform/oversee or delegate hospital inventory at regularly scheduled intervals.Perform or oversee of procurement for clinical supplies and look for ways to keep COGS balanced.Participate in recruitment efforts including interviewing, observational interviews and onboarding.Work with HM to assist in HR responsibilities in a supportive role. This may include acting as a witness to disciplinary actions up to and including terminations, conflict resolution and discussions that involve confidential and sensitive information. Attendance and participation in all hospital meetings deemed mandatory by HM.Help organize/delegate community outreach through community events, school visits, in-hospital events, etc. Risk ManagementAdditional Considerations and Acknowledgements
The lead role is paid using a “Lead Differential” added to your existing base wage. This differential is removed when the lead role is no longer applicable, and the employee is then subject to their existing base wage. Please note: all wage increases that occur when employee is a lead are done to base wage and not the differential. The Clinical Lead is a supervisory role. As such, all actions and dialogue (written, vocal, or digital) are a direct representation inside and outside the company. Any misrepresentation, or counterproductive action can be enforced by termination.The lead role requires an immense amount of planning, engagement, patience, and empathy. Role modeling professional behavior and maturity is a must and the candidate must be able to actively learn and adjust to help the needs of your team quickly and efficiently.The base hourly range for this position is $28.00/hour to $32.00/hour. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position.
