Veterinary Assistant - Primary Care Team
**About Us** VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center is a well-established, AAHA-accredited hybrid hospital offering both general practice and 24-hour emergency and critical care. Our General Practice Department serves as a development program where team members develop foundational veterinary skills that can be expanded upon in our Inpatient Departments (Urgent Care, ER, ICU, and ICW). **About the Role** As a Veterinary Assistant in our General Practice Department, you will play a vital role in providing preventive care, follow-up visits, and chronic case management while working alongside hybrid DVMs who bring advanced knowledge from ER and ICU medicine. This position is designed for those looking to build strong core competencies in patient care while preparing for growth into more advanced medical settings. **Key Responsibilities** + Assist doctors and technicians during routine exams, follow-up visits, and chronic case management. + Provide client communication and education, ensuring each visit supports long-term patient health. + Manage patient flow for scheduled appointments. + Maintain accurate medical records. + Accurately dispense and label prescribed medications while ensuring proper documentation and client instructions. + Perform laboratory tests, sample handling, and basic diagnostic imaging. **What We’re Looking For** + Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred, but we value a growth mindset and willingness to learn. + Strong communication and client-service skills. + Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting. + Enthusiasm for developing foundational technical and patient-care skills. + Weekend availability is required. **Why Join Us?** We are passionate about supporting our associates and are committed to your continuing education and personal career development.
