**About Us**
VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center is a hybrid hospital combining general practice, urgent care, and 24-hour emergency/critical care. Our Inpatient Departments (ER, ICU, ICW) manage patients requiring advanced medical attention, hospitalization, and round-the-clock monitoring. We are seeking Veterinary Assistants who thrive in dynamic, high-acuity environments and are eager to provide hands-on, life-saving care.
**About the Role**
As a Veterinary Assistant in our Inpatient Department, you will directly support our doctors and credentialed technicians in delivering advanced patient care. This role is best suited for individuals with strong foundational skills who are ready to expand into acute and critical care settings. You will help stabilize incoming emergencies, monitor hospitalized patients, and support intensive treatment plans while maintaining compassionate communication with clients.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Provide direct support in triage, emergency stabilization, and ongoing inpatient care.
+ Assist with advanced diagnostics (bloodwork, radiology, ultrasound prep, etc.).
+ Perform patient monitoring (TPR, mentation, oxygen therapy, IV lines, syringe pumps, etc.).
+ Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring efficiency during emergencies.
+ Support doctors and technicians with advanced procedures and critical nursing care.
+ Communicate with clients regarding hospitalized patients and treatment updates.
**What We’re Looking For**
+ Prior veterinary assistant experience strongly preferred, particularly in emergency or inpatient settings.
+ Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
+ Team-oriented, detail-driven, and adaptable.
+ Interest in critical care and continued skill development.
+ Weekend availability is required.

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $20 to $24/ hour.
