These include: Wellness care Diagnostic services Surgical procedures Dental services Boarding & grooming We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Position Skills: Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner Perform catheterization and venipuncture/gives SQ, IM and IV injections in accordance with government regulations and doctors’ orders. Assist the veterinarian in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepare patients for surgery (including intubation); administers anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids. Perform routine laboratory analyses, including hematology, serology, blood chemistry, urinalysis, fecals, skin scrapings, and cytology for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations High quality client communication on patient updates and questions Open to learning and practicing low-stress/fear-free animal handling if currently unfamiliar.
