Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a Veterinarian to support Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) and its collaborating institutions in conducting protocol-driven scientific research. NAMRU-SA’s mission is to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DoD personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
The Veterinarian will develop and conduct scientific research addressing various aspects of military medicine, including trauma, hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed energy health effects, and craniofacial health and trauma. The role involves supporting Principal Investigators (PIs) in writing research proposals, developing presentation materials, and ensuring compliance with animal use regulations.
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop and conduct protocol-driven scientific research addressing various aspects of military medicine, including trauma, hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed energy health effects, and craniofacial health and trauma.
Provide support to Principal Investigators (PIs) for writing protocol-driven research proposals, animal use protocols, technical reports, final reports, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Develop presentation materials, research Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and present findings at technical and professional meetings.
Perform study procedures in accordance with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and animal use regulations.
Set up experimental equipment and ensure study staff are trained for experimental procedures in accordance with approved animal use protocols.
Provide support in the development and establishment of in vivo and in vitro model systems, data acquisition, and data analysis.
Serve as an advisor to contract personnel.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD)) plus three (3) years’ related experience or one (1) year clinical internship.
Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct protocol-driven scientific research.
Proficiency in writing research proposals and developing presentation materials.
Strong skills in performing study procedures in accordance with IACUC and animal use regulations.
Excellent advisory skills for supporting PIs and training study staff.
