Black & McDonald’s BIM/CAD team is growing! You are an independent, enthusiastic, and driven professional searching for an opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career. The VDC Specialist (Mechanical) is located in Vaughan, ON and typically reports directly to the Mechanical Lead.

VDC Specialist (Mechanical), will be engaged in key projects and initiatives to drive new revenues and improve processes. As a part of the Virtual Design team, you will support the Project Managers in all phases of: Pre-construction Planning; Prefabrication; and BIM/CAD detailing throughout the construction process

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

With a focus on mechanical system (i.e. plumbing / piping, etc.) this position will be responsible for the preparation of engineering contract drawings, details and sketches from conceptual design through tender to construction documents for building structures using Autodesk REVIT MEP, Autodesk Fabrication CadMEP, NavisWorks Working with Project Managers and other BIM / CAD Detailers and contribute to the success of our multi-trade projectsLiaison with counterparts from other trades to develop clash free BIM 3D modelsPrepare 2D/ 3D mechanical layout drawings for material installation on sitePrepare mechanical fabrication drawings for pre-fab work

WHAT YOU CAN OFFER

Completion of a 2-3 year college program in engineering and drafting technology (Revit)3-5 years experience working in mechanical VDC

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Strong working knowledge of Revit, Autodesk Fabrication CADmep & NavisworksExperience in the efficient and effective set up of pre-fabricationFamiliarity with construction products and installation methodsBasic knowledge of the building codeProficiency with MS suite (i.e. excel, outlook, word, etc.)Highly organized, flexible and have the ability to work necessary hours in a fast-paced, deadline driven environmentMust be self-sufficient and take initiative and have strong attention to detailBe able to input data, complete and update As-builts (2D set)Provide support for plotting and sending of electronic files
