**Job Description Summary** The Cost Technologies team is looking to backfill a VCPLab Senior Engineer role. The Senior Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional and business objectives addressing product cost-out and producibility opportunities in all phases of the product's life cycle. This role will require strong partnerships across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Product lines to identify, develop, and integrate new cost strategies, design changes, and supply chain process improvements to meet business cost and productivity objectives. Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment. **Job Description** **Roles and Responsibilities** + Conceptual or theoretical activities related to the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Includes the analysis of static (structural) and dynamic (Rotordynamics, vibrations) behavior of mechanical systems + Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility. + Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market + Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. + Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college + Minimum of 5 years of experience in disciplinary engineering and science + Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
