As a Vascular Technologist, you will perform high-quality vascular ultrasounds. In this role, you will assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of disorders affecting the vascular system and perform non-invasive exams to assess for diseases or disorders. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients by ensuring they receive necessary care.
**A PRN caregiver in this position works varying 8-hour shifts between 7:00AM - 7:30PM, including weekends. Although the main work location is Martin South Hospital, this caregiver may also be scheduled at Martin North, Tradition, St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Perform carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, aortoiliac duplex, penile duplex and renal duplex.
+ Dictate preliminary reports for physicians.
+ Consult with vascular medicine physician for interpretation of test results.
+ Maintain records of testing for documentation.
+ Provide daily account of patient's charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes.
+ Provide training and act as a resource for vascular ultrasound students, residents and physicians.
+ Provide testing for add-on emergency patients.
+ Maintain continuing medical education requirements for the appropriate professional organization.
+ Maintain files (e.g., product and service quotes), records and up-to-date documents for accreditation of vascular lab.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Completion of an appropriate allied health program leading to a degree OR certificate in the application of non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound techniques
+ Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or other appropriate national certification OR registry eligible
+ Appropriate national registry must be completed within one year of hire
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
+ Advanced training in anatomy, physiology, biology, and physics
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Three years of clinical experience
+ Dual registry status as a Vascular and Echo Technologist
**Physical Requirements** :
+ Essential Duties: Interact with patients, families, physicians and other health care workers.
+ Good hand coordination for positioning of prove and equipment.
+ Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.
+ Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients.
+ Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.
+ Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.
+ Moderate risk of exposure to blood or air-borne pathogens.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
